Black Forest Trifle

Lady Shanny’s Comments:  I just made this tonight for a potluck we’re having at work tomorrow.  It looks lovely and should taste just fine.  Buy the prebaked angel food cake from your grocery store.  Easier!  To make the angel food cake easier to chop up, throw it in the freezer for about 15 minutes first. 

UPDATE:  I’ve made this for two different events now and the second time I did it with unsweetened soy beverage instead of skim milk (same points) and it tastes exactly the same.

1-10 oz angel food cake, cut into 1″ cubes

1-20oz can of cherry pie filling

2-32g boxes Fat Free Instant Pudding ~ chocolate flavour

3 cups skimmed milk

1 tub of defrosted Light Cool Whip

Place half cake cubes in trifle dish or large bowl.  Mix pudding powder with the milk.  Let sit for 5 minutes.  Spread half the pudding over the cake cubes, right to the edges.  Spread half the pie filling.  Top with half the Cool Whip.  Repeat with remaining ingredients, spreading right to the edge.  Chill until ready to serve (overnight).

Yield:  16 cups ~ 2pts/cup

    Are you making this for C-eve? Can you make me something with Soy? Can you substitute lowfat soy instead of the skim? If not, it’s okay… I’ll just sit in the corner and cry while you all eat….

    This sounds wonderful! I’m such a big fan of cherry pie filling anyway. It also sounds really light, which is a good thing after a meal. Thanks for putting up the recipe. I’ll have to try it.
